Isn't Winter Supposed to be Cold?
THIS PICTURE POSTED TO CAUSE CONFUSION
Oh, the fuss Toronto news stations make about the weather! It was – 16° Celsius or 3° Fahrenheit in Toronto. The news stations made one of their news stories about how cold it was in Toronto. Does Winter have something to do with the cold?
When I was a boy growing up in Toronto, just after the Renaissance, the weather was a separate segment of the news. The weather person gave the weather report without reporters on the street asking Torontonians how they were coping with the weather. I do not remember news reporters telling people, as if the people were children, how to deal with the cold weather.
I spoke to a friend who lives in a land far, far away. She said it was – 40° Fahrenheit which is also – 40° Celsius. (The two temperature scales are equal at – 40.) She said it would warm up to – 20° Fahrenheit or – 29° Celsius. These temperatures are expected for her environment during the winter.
Can you imagine these frigid temperatures in Toronto? How would Torontonians cope? Toronto’s news stations would not have to worry about reporting anything other than the weather.
Whether the weather be fine,
Or whether the weather be not,
Whether the weather be cold,
Or whether the weather be hot.
We will weather the weather,
Whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not!
